Russell A Weg, MD

Dr. Russell A Weg embraces a comprehensive approach to healthcare, integrating evidence-based practice with the fundamental pillars of nutrition, exercise and lifestyle. By focusing on the whole person rather than just treating symptoms, he aims to empower patients to make sustainable improvements that prevent disease and enhance their quality of life. 

Dr. Weg maintains dual board-certification in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He is an Assistant Attending Physician at New York Presbyterian Hospital, has consulting privileges at the Hospital for Special Surgery and holds a faculty appointment as a Clinical Instructor of Medicine at the Weill Cornell Medical College. At Weill Cornell, Dr. Weg teaches endoscopy and colonoscopy and oversees board exam preparation for the Gastroenterology and Hepatology fellowship program.

Dr. Weg completed his residency in Internal Medicine at New York Presbyterian - Weill Cornell Medical College, followed by three years of specialty training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He earned his medical degree from the Jacobs School of Medicine at SUNY Buffalo after graduating cum laude from New York University with a degree in psychology and a minor in chemistry. Prior to establishing his private practice, Dr. Weg had the privilege of working with his father, Dr. Arnold Weg, a renowned Internist and Gastroenterologist, who has been a lifelong source of inspiration.

In his free time, Dr. Weg enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. He is an avid participant in endurance sports, having competed in numerous marathons, triathlons and open-water swims.
